MEet our coaches
ERIKA HAMMAR
Erika has 27 years of coaching experience. She is a USFS (US Figure Skating) and PSA (Professional Skating Association) member and Category A Level instructor. She has coached and developed Regional, Sectional, National and International Competitors in both ladies singles and synchronized skating. She trained under a master rated and Olympic coach. Erika competed nationally and internationally in synchronized skating where she won 4 Sectional Titles, 3 National Titles and 2 International Bronze Medals with the Lexington, MA-based team, The Haydenettes. Erika teaches various disciplines of skating such as Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Learn to Skate and Choreography. In 2007 Erika began working at the MicroIce Training Center in North Andover, MA. With an increasing hockey skating enrollment there, she saw an immediate need to help those students be more competitive hockey players by using their edges more efficiently. Something she has done as a figure skater her entire life. As a result, Erika developed a specific program called “Edges with Erika”. Today Erika works with elite hockey players and teams from all over Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Her clientele ranges from youth hockey up through college. Erika holds a BS in Nutrition and Food Science from Simmons College in Boston, MA.
KRISTINE JOHNSON
Kristine has over 20 years of coaching experience. She is a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist and has coached competitive figure skaters through Senior / Gold level tests in moves-in-the-field and freestyle, as well as Regional and U.S Collegiate National competitors. She is a rated instructor with the Professional Skaters Association and trained under master rated and national level coaches. Kristine teaches various disciplines of skating such as Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Lean to Skate, Choreography as well as Power and Edge Skating for Hockey Players. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Merrimack College and is also the Marketing Director for Coco, Early & Associates in Methuen, MA. In addition, she is the President and Skating Director for the Northeast Ice Skating Club in Haverhill, MA. In that role she oversees all of the programming and operations of an organization that serves hundreds of skaters each year.
